Lovable Cloud Pricing and Costs: What You Actually Pay

Last updated: By The Migrator Team

Lovable Cloud pricing is one of the most searched questions about the platform, and the honest answer is that it depends on how much your app uses. Lovable Cloud is billed by usage rather than as one flat fee, so a small prototype can cost very little while a busy app with large files and many users costs more.

This guide explains what drives the cost, how to estimate your own bill, what the storage and quota questions really mean, and how it compares with running your own Supabase project. We deliberately do not copy price numbers here, because they change; always confirm current figures on Lovable's pricing page and in the Lovable docs.

How Lovable Cloud costs are structured

There are two separate things to keep apart. Your Lovable plan pays for building: the AI assistant, credits and workspace features. Lovable Cloud is the backend your finished app runs on, and it is metered by usage.

In practice the backend charges come from the same few resources that any Postgres-based backend uses. Knowing them lets you predict a bill instead of being surprised by it.

  • Database size and compute. How much data you store and how hard the database works to serve requests.
  • File storage. Total gigabytes in your buckets. Images, videos and PDFs add up faster than table rows.
  • Bandwidth (egress). Data sent to your users. Large public files that many people download are the usual cause of a high bill.
  • Edge function invocations. How many times your server-side functions run, and for how long.
  • Authentication. The number of monthly active users, on some platforms.

How to estimate your own Lovable Cloud cost

  1. 1Measure your database

Count your rows and estimate size. In the SQL editor, select pg_size_pretty(pg_database_size(current_database())); shows the total database size.

  2. 2Measure your storage

Add up the size of every bucket. Public buckets with big files matter most because every download counts as bandwidth.

  3. 3Estimate traffic

Multiply monthly visitors by the average data each visit loads (images included) to get a rough bandwidth figure.

  4. 4Count function calls

Estimate how many times per user per day your edge functions run, then multiply by your monthly users.

  5. 5Apply the current rates

Put your four numbers against the rates on the official pricing page. Repeat the same numbers against Supabase's pricing page to compare.

SQL: size of each table, largest first
select relname as table, pg_size_pretty(pg_total_relation_size(relid)) as size
from pg_catalog.pg_statio_user_tables
order by pg_total_relation_size(relid) desc;

Lovable Cloud storage pricing and storage limits

Searches for storage pricing, storage quota and storage limit all come down to two numbers: how much total storage you get at your price tier, and the largest single file you can upload. Both are set by the platform and can change, so read them on the official pricing page rather than relying on a blog post.

When you move to your own Supabase project, the same two questions apply. Supabase publishes per-plan storage allowances and a maximum upload size that you can raise on paid plans. See the Supabase Storage docs and pricing page. If you serve a lot of large files, also look at bandwidth, which usually costs more than storage itself.

Lovable Cloud cost vs your own Supabase project

Because Lovable Cloud and Supabase use the same Postgres foundation, the resources you pay for are the same. The difference is how clearly you can see and control them.

With your own Supabase project you see published pricing, pick the compute size, watch usage graphs in the dashboard and get an itemised bill from Supabase itself. Many builders move for exactly that predictability, plus direct database access. Others stay on Lovable Cloud because one place for the app and the backend is worth the convenience. Neither is wrong: compare your own numbers.

  • Small prototype or internal tool: the cost difference is usually small, so convenience wins.
  • Growing app with real users: published pricing and the ability to choose compute size make costs easier to forecast.
  • File-heavy app: compare bandwidth and storage rates carefully on both sides.

How to keep Lovable Cloud costs down

If you decide to move, the complete migration guide and the free migration tool take about 20 to 40 minutes. Our comparison of Lovable Cloud and Supabase covers the non-cost trade-offs.

  • Compress and resize images before upload instead of storing originals.
  • Add indexes for slow queries so the database does less work per request.
  • Cache responses that do not change often and avoid calling edge functions on every page view.
  • Delete unused files and old test data.
  • Check usage regularly so a spike never goes unnoticed for a month.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Lovable Cloud cost?

Lovable Cloud is billed by usage on top of your Lovable plan, so the cost depends on database size, storage, bandwidth and function calls. Check Lovable's pricing page for the current rates and free allowance.

Is Lovable Cloud free?

Lovable usually includes some free usage, but allowances change over time. Confirm the current free allowance on the official pricing page before relying on it.

Why is my Lovable Cloud bill higher than expected?

The usual causes are large public files served to many users (bandwidth), growing storage, and edge functions that run on every request.

Is my own Supabase project cheaper than Lovable Cloud?

It depends on your usage. Supabase publishes its pricing and lets you choose compute size, which makes costs predictable. Compare your own numbers on both pricing pages.

Does moving to Supabase cost anything?

Our migration tool is free. You then pay Supabase according to its plans; it has a free tier that fits many small projects.

What is the Lovable Cloud storage limit?

Storage allowance and maximum file size depend on your plan and can change. Check the official Lovable pricing and documentation pages for the current limits.
